In this film the most progressive leaders call for sanity, peace, global disarmament, environmental protection, universal education and health care, and public oversight of corporations and media conglomerates. Choosing to honor international treaties and the rule of law rather than war would restore a civilized community of nations. Limiting growth and creating a worldwide renewable and democratic economy could lift the pall of fear and restore hope.

History shows that humankind has often been subjected to the dominion of a self aggrandizing few. People across centuries painfully struggled for freedom and justice against the cruel burden of tyranny. Kings, emperors, czars, and dictators resisted the establishment of public rights, the res publica (Lat. the thing of the people) from which comes the word republic. Democracy (Gk. rule of the people), another word for the same idea, has displaced many of the world's crowns and become the most progressive form of government.

From the English Magna Carta to the French Revolution to the birth of America's Constitutional Democracy, humanity has slowly advanced toward the ideal of "freedom and justice for all." The U.S. Constitution was a providential event brought about by men who were painfully aware of potential treachery and hypocrisy embedded in the imperialistic culture from which they had come. In America today "freedom and justice for all" has not yet been achieved because a small minority with a distorted understanding of life has gained a disproportionate share of the common wealth created by human toil. This minority is waging secret class warfare against working people, the middle class, and the poor.

While these power holders give lip service to piety, liberty and justice, their actions are aimed at exploitation of others. Neo-fascists pass themselves off as a defenders of conservative values, but, in fact, they are afflicted with a dangerous mental condition manifested in irrational power lust and insatiable greed and rooted in psychotic egocentric pride camouflaged behind a mask of compassionate conservatism and fundamentalist double talk.

We are told that they can be known by their fruits, and this is why the media they own seeks to prevent truthful coverage of news. These perennial enemies of truth and democracy have seized most major information channels which rightfully belong to the people so that evil now controls the political dialogue. Corporate media masquerades as purveyors of truth while it seeks privatization of every public service, national asset, government function, including our water, and seeks to reduce people to mere vassals under the rising corporate aristocracy. Only by exposing truth can we hope to arouse the public and force an end to this centuries-old vicious circle of evil which threatens all life on this planet.

Fortunately, truth is luminous and even as a total solar eclipse cannot hide the light of the sun, so the darkness of media monopoly is being penetrated by the light from the rising new sun of democratic alternate media. Visionary Arts & Media provides one more luminous channel for truth.
