Coordinator for Youth Empowering Youth

Lee began with us as an intern from UCSC in our Youth Empowering Youth program (April 2005-January 2006) and is now its coordinator (February 2006-to the present). As Coordinator, Lee has helped establish connections between students from UCSC and video students from San Lorenzo Valley High.  University students will serve as media mentors in the high school class room and serve as production crew leaders in co-created student video productions focused on socially relevant topics. These students are currently working on three documentary shorts to be screened on May 27, 2006 at the Attic in Santa Cruz.

Video Background
Lee's background is as a video producer/ video activist.  He has created short documentary pieces in both video and audio format, on topics of indigenous culture struggles and issues, social analysis and critique upon pace of american lifestyle and correlations to stress levels and possible solutions to this phenomena, exploration of using sound and vibration as a healing modality with ancient roots and new possibilities with modern technology and techniques.  He also worked with Santa Cruz Indy Media in producing a video documenting the 2004 presidential election based in Santa Cruz.

  • Founding Member of Sustainability TV: Media Organization based out of UCSC focusing on creating media in support of the planetary sustainability movement. 
  • Participant in MS3 (My Strength, My Story, My Space): Media Mentorship Project in which students in the Youth Media Education class teach local teenage “at risk or homeless” students to produce photo documentaries encouraging expression and empowerment.
