Founder and Executive Director
Leonora Clow has been a philanthropist, and a political and environmental activist for over 30 years. She has financially supported numerous projects, volunteered her time, as well as been actively involved as an active Board member of Visionary Arts and Media. Leonora is involved in all aspects of our our organization but her love is the Youth Empowering Youth: Student Films for Social Change program. Leonora believes that the life-spring for a peaceful, joyful, and harmonious tomorrow lies within the youth of today. She also feels very strongly in the need to assist in the building of local community. This youth program does both. Students become engaged in socially progressive issues in their community and use the creative medium of film as a means for raising consciousness and effecting change. We help connect the students with local non-profit organizations and individuals already involved in their field of interest so they can work together. We also bring in local documentary film experts to teach the students through the film making process: experts on how to structure the entire project including timelines, how to write the script, tips on shooting the documentary, and on editing. This September 2006 we embark on our second year with a focus on the environment, global warming, and ways in which we as a community can create and put into practice a model for sustaining living that other communities can replicate.
2004: Founder, President, and Executive Director of Visionary Arts & Media Foundation (VAM)
VAM represents a global network of healers, artists, musicians, writers, and activists who are dedicated towards providing transformational media which educates, informs, and empowers others to create a more just, fair, and sustainable world. In order to ensure accuracy in reporting, VAM provides an archive of its' sources. In addition to documenting all facts, VAM provides an interactive website which invites viewers to participate in finding solutions to these pressing issues. These programs will be incorporated into creating a conscious media broadcast channel, The People's Channel. "Truth is Power" is a 30-minute video which imparts the importance of the media in order to ensure our Constitutional rights are not being violated. This video will be aired at the 2004 Democratic National Convention in Boston.
2003-2004: Co-producer"Women's Rising" -- a women's radio project in collaboration with Crown Sephira Productions and National Radio Project: "In an industry which has been ultimately dominated by men, women are rising up in all capacities from artists to agents and everywhere in between.
